Setting a Whole-House Surge and Disconnect Pedestal Pad at a Pinellas Meter
Panel upgrades in Pinellas often add a whole-house surge and an exterior disconnect next to the meter. Those cans cannot sit in mulch, and they should not steal a corner of a finished walk. PaverForge Hardscapes sets a small pedestal pad that the electrician can bolt to, then we rebuild the walk around it.
Clearances and isolation
The pad stays off the house stucco, off the meter can, and off any irrigation backflow. We leave working clearance in front of the disconnect door and pitch the pad away from the slab so wash-down does not sit against the enclosure. A bond-breaker at the walk keeps a later utility raise from cracking the first row of field pavers.
After the electrician leaves
Once the cans are set we cut the field tight, reset any grade rings, and joint-sand only after the last torque visit. Coastal yards get a polymer-sand color that hides the first rust drip from hardware. If Duke or the city moves the meter during the upgrade, we rebuild the throat of the walk to the new can location instead of leaving a concrete island.
