Slip-Resistant Textures on Pinellas Pool-Deck Pavers
A glossy paver face looks sharp on day one and becomes a slip sheet when sunscreen and splash film sit on it. Pinellas pool decks need a face with enough texture to grip wet feet, plus joints that can be re-sanded after a season of splash.
Texture vs polish
We specify tumbled or shot-face concrete pavers, or a textured porcelain rated for wet exterior use, instead of a honed stone that polishes under traffic. Coping and the first two courses off the beam get the same texture family so the step-off does not change underfoot.
Pitch still matters more than texture. A grippy paver on a flat deck still ponds. We hold fall away from the house sliders and toward a channel or deck drain, then isolate the pool beam so seasonal movement does not telegraph into the field.
