Wood Street Dunedin Paver Drives
Wood Street is a short residential block in downtown Dunedin, a few streets south of Main and east of the Pinellas Trail. The lots are older cottage parcels. Driveways are short, side yards are tight, and live oaks sit close enough that a thin sand bed will heave within a season.
What the apron has to do
Most Wood Street drives meet a city curb and a sidewalk that the city already owns. We measure the throat, the garage threshold, and the low spot after a summer rain before we cut. The field has to fall away from the slab and still meet the sidewalk without a trip lip. A ribbon of concrete at the street is only useful if the paver field behind it is locked to the same pitch.
Roots, base, and edge
Where an oak root crosses the drive, we do not pave over it and hope. We expose the conflict, decide with the owner whether to bridge or reroute, and rebuild the base in compacted lifts so the first course cannot walk toward the neighbor. Edge restraint is rigid, not a plastic strip buried in sugar sand. Joints get polymeric sand only after the field is clean and dry.
PaverForge Hardscapes is based in St. Pete Beach and builds these Dunedin drives with a real aggregate base. For a Wood Street quote, call 727-490-9798 or book at https://www.paverforge.com/book-online.
